CELEBRITY DESIGNER ANAND JON REVEALS “ALCHEMISTE” SPRING 2007 COLLECTION & NEW JEANISIS JEANS
New York, New York (09/09, 2006): Anand Jon took New York Fashion Week/ 7th on Sixth by storm with a packed house of over 700 guests at the Style Lounge/Metropolitan Pavilion. The event premiered Anand Jon’s Spring 2007 line ALCHEMISTE, which also introduced his ready-to-wear jeans line Jeanisis by Anand Jon. Guests including Former Lost star and close friend Michelle Rodriguez and Project Runway’s main man Tim Gunn who exclaimed of his former parsons student “A Visionary and a leader”. Other supporters included Patrick McMullan’s son Liam, Luigi Tadini, Cody Franchetti, Nick Raynes, Marissa Bregman, Anna Blanca, Mike Latham, Michčle Gerber Klein, Jill Zarin. Dr. Eric Berger, Allison Weiss-Brady, Dustin Higgins, Julie Hayek, Krista Kennedy, Jill Zarin, Jocelyn Berker, Justin Stiver, Emma Snowdon-Jones and Mark Langrish at the show. Anand Jon’s 6 month-old panther Maya who is part of his charity the www.naturesanctuary.org was watching from backstage where Michelle Rodriguez took care of her.
ALCHEMISTE: The Anand Jon Spring 2007 collection is inspired by metamorphosis and the quest of transformation. On a literal level, it is the age-old quest of turning base metal into gold. In reality, it is but a metaphor of man’s desire to become immortal…godlike…flesh to the spirit. The Blue Lotus, a symbol prevalent in Anand Jon’s latest collection, is one of attainment of perfection through a process of flaws as the lotus blooms even in the muddiest of waters, representing man’s potential to divine manifestation in the chaos of the mundane world. Blending the East and West seamlessly some in collaborating with his sister Sanjana Jon, Exploring his signature embroideries use of lush colors such as deep blues, sensual Fucha pinks sensual looks perfect for his celebrity friends & clients.
Opening with the sexy Jeanisis by Anand Jon the Japanese selvage denims combined with washes in LA and handwork like dragon embellishments and the Alchemiste embroidery combined with slinky Indian skirts and translucent silk / cotton tops ravaged the runway. Then to the applause of the standing room only audience came his to die for gowns.. The body hugging golden leaf coated lace open front with a slithering train of charmuse silk, the Gold hand beaded mini dress with a bejeweled neck and the heavily draped Tidal blue hooded gown leading to the Lotus petal wedding gown finale in a duchess silk ivory corset with layers of translucent lotus petals held together in tucks danced around the bride upcoming supermodel Bianca.
